Games of the Week–Week 11

#19 Mississippi State vs. #12 Alabama

This is definitely going to be the game of the week. Alabama lost to LSU 24-21, which would likely knock them out of contention for a second straight national championship. McElroy completed 21 of 34 passes for 223 yards and two touchdowns. However, he was intercepted in the first half and fumbled on a sack by Drake Nevis in his territory in the fourth quarter. Mississippi State defeated Kentucky 24-17 to win its sixth straight game. Mississippi State QB Chris Relf had 190 yards of total offense and two TDs. I predict Alabama to come out strong next week and defeat Mississippi State 28-17.

#24 Kansas State vs. #17 Missouri

Missouri lost to Texas Tech 24-17. Missouri's quarterback Blaine Gabbert completed 12 of 30 passes for 95 yards for the Tigers. Kansas State defeated the struggling Texas Longhorns 39-14 with the help of Collin Klein and Daniel Thomas, whom ran for two touchdowns apiece. Kansas State defenders also intercepted Garrett Gilbert five times. If Kansas State plays with the same mentality as they did against the Longhorns, I predict them to defeat Missouri 24-20.

      Games of the Week-Week 9 (October 24)

      #1 Oregon vs. #24 USC

This is going to be the most preeminent game of the week. Darren Thomas, Oregon's quarterback, threw for 308 yards and three touchdowns in their impressive win against UCLA. The Ducks are averaging 55.1 points a game, and their dazzling defense is allowing 16 a game. USC has the only offense in the PAC-10 that can keep up with Oregon. USC's quarterback Matt Barkley has thrown for 20 touchdowns and 4 intercepts. USC will want retribution for the loss to Oregon last year. Taking this into consideration, I predict Oregon to win 45-35.

      #7 Missouri vs. # 14 Nebraska

Missouri is the best team in the Big 12. They proved it on the field, defending their home turf against the #1 team in the country. They defeated Oklahoma resolutely 36-27 and proved to the entire nation that they are for real. Nebraska's quarterback Taylor Martinez had 435 total yards and five touchdowns on a 51-41 victory over #14 Oklahoma State. I predict Missouri to win 27-20.

      #5 Michigan State vs. # 18 Iowa

Kirk Cousins, The Michigan State QB Kirk Cousins threw for 331 years and three TDs to rally MSU to the win against Northwestern. Iowa lost in a heartbreaker to #13 Wisconsin by a score of 31-30. Although Michigan State won, they did not play well against Northwestern. However, they demonstrated that they can overcome their struggles and come out victorious. Iowa has one of the best defenses in the nation. If Iowa is going to win this game, they are going to have to rely on their pass. I predict Michigan State to win 21-17.

      Games of the Week-Week 7

      #1 Ohio State v. #18 Wisconsin

This will be the most intensifying game of the week. The Ohio State Buckeyes re-established themselves as a national title contender. Ohio State's quarterback, Terelle Pryor, passed for a career high 334 yards in their 38-10 win against Indiana. Wisconsin was defeated by the Michigan State Spartans 34-24. Wisconsin, however forced three turnovers in the first half of the game although they trailed 20-10 at the half. Wisconsin's John Clay is going to have to step up his game this week after snapping his streak of ten straight games rushing for at least 100 yards. In Order for Wisconsin to defeat the Buckeyes they will have to play good defense and have Clay rush for over 100 yards. I expect Ohio State to win 32-25.

AP Photo/Jay LaPrete Coach Jim Tressel
Ohio State topped the AP poll Sunday and received 34 first-place votes after beating Indiana on Saturday.

      Texas vs. #5 Nebraska

Nebraska's freshman quarterback Taylor Martinez has become a Heisman candidate. Martinez completed 5 of 7 passes for 128 yards and a touchdown while running for a career high 241 yards and 4 touchdowns and fifteen carries against Kansas State. When Nebraska's defense play as well as it did against Kansas State, Nebraska looks very intimidating and unbeatable. The Texas Longhorns lost 28-20 against #8 ranked Oklahoma, losing consecutive games for the first time since 2007. Garrett Gilbert completed 27 of 41 passes for 265 yards with no touchdowns. The only opportunity Texas has to beating Nebraska is by finding a way to stop the exceptional quarterback Nebraska has. I predict Nebraska to win 35-20.

      #12 Arkansas v. #7 Auburn

This will be a great game. Arkansas' quarterback Ryan Mallett threw for three touchdown passes against Texas A & M, winning 24-17. Although they were victorious, they did not play a good game. Arkansas had several chances to put the game away early, but they just couldn't do it. They got only one field goal out of the turnovers, missing another and failed with a fake. Mallett A&M sacked Mallett three times; he'd gone down only six all season. Auburn didn't play to their potential either although they won 35-32 over Kentucky. Auburn's quarterback Cam Newton ran for a career-high 198 yards and four touchdowns and passed for another 210 more. Darvin Adams caught five passes for 101 yards for Auburn. Whoever makes stops, does not turn the ball over, and does not commit costly penalties will win this game. I predict the Arkansas Razorbacks to win 32-28.

Top Games of the Week in College Football

#7 Florida vs. #1 Alabama (Florida Gators at Alabama Crimson Tide)

This is definitely going to be one of the most anticipated games of the week. I predict Alabama to win 24-17. The absolute key to the game will be if Florida’s offense can minimize mistakes and stay on the field. The Florida secondary and special teams are going to have to continue to control field positions and make plays to put the offense in advantageous positions. If they allow Ingram and Richardson to control time of possession they will eventually wear out Florida.

      #9 Stanford vs. #4 Oregon

At this point of the season, Oregon and Stanford appear to be the two best teams in the Pac-10. Stanford upset the Ducks last year, who were thought to be unbeatable. I predict Stanford to win once again 31-20. This will be one of the best games of the year.

      #21 Texas vs. #8 Oklahoma

The longhorns lost by a margin of 22 points to a UCLA Bruins team who was shut out at home two weeks ago by Stanford. Oklahoma, although they beat Cincinnati 31-29, allowed nearly 500 years of offense. They will have to step up their defense if they want to beat the Horns. Let's see how the Longhorns come out and play after a huge lost to the Bruins. I predict the Horns will win 27-20.
